German car manufacturer Audi has launched its electric vehicle (EV) e-tron range in South Africa, with multiple vehicle models on offer.
The EV range includes the e-tron 55 Sportback, e-tron S Sportback and the top of the range, high performance, e-tron Gran Turismo (GT) and Racing Sport (RS) e-tron GT. The first edition of the Audi e-tron 55 will be ready for sale in South Africa in limited numbers and at any of the ten nationwide e-tron Audi dealerships from the second half of 2022. The cost of e-tron range is expected to start from R1.75 million with the top of the range RS e-tron GT priced at R3.3 million.
The launch of the range represents a significant moment for South Africa’s EV sector. In addition to advancing Audi’s penetration in international markets, the range ensures the provision of premium, sustainable mobility for South Africa.
“Never has any automotive brand anywhere in the world launched this many electric vehicles in one go,” stated Sascha Sauer, adding that,” By accelerating our transition towards e-mobility, we are fully embracing Audi’s global mission in transforming towards a provider of premium sustainable mobility, in line with our brand’s global commitments towards the Paris Climate Agreement.”
